Replacement & Installations

Ceiling Fans are the cheapest way to escape the heat, other than Air conditioning, but what lighting options do you have when replacing a light with a fan? Would you choose fan lights or down lights?

Ceiling Fans

Ceiling Fans are the most efficient way of creating a cool breeze, typically fans only use 60 Watts when on top speed, and less when on lower speed settings, so they are easy on the hip pocket also!

When installing ceiling fans, we will wire in the required cabling, and change the switch plate with what’s supplied in the box or if you have a specific type of wall plate we can match them if needed. We check that there’s timber available at the right position in the ceiling to screw to, and add timber where needed. That way you can sleep happy knowing your fan is secure above your bed.

If your fan installation is in a concrete type construction, we can supply and fit fan light combinations with remotes, as replacing or upgrading the wiring is usually not possible in this type of construction.

Lighting

Down lights have been the main type of lighting in homes for a very long time. Now with the advancement of LED down lights, lighting your home does not have to cost the earth. Led lights are 85% more efficient than traditional 60w incandescent globes.

Upgrading to LED downlights will update the feel of your home, and at the same time save you money on your electricity bill. There is one thing to consider with LED downlights, that is the color of the light that is produced.

There are a number of different ways to label the colours but we refer to them as Cool White, Neurtal, and Warm. To be more specific we will refer to the Degrees Kelvin rating of the light –  Day Light is around 5000k, Cool White is around 4000k and Warm around 3000k. Choosing the correct light colour for the feel of your home can be difficult.

We generally will say that work areas like Kitchens, Bathrooms and Laundry should be 4000k, whereas Lounges and bedrooms generally are more comfortable with a Warmer coloured light (3000k), but at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference.

One of the best features of our LED downlights is the ability to choose the colour, as the light fitting has all 3 available colors to pick from. Simply use the switch on the back to change it if you like.
